About “Sense of movement” Pt-2

Hi! This is Mayumasa.

After last weekend's warm weather, today we're experiencing the chill of winter.
Please take care of your health.

So today, I'm on the train to Hamamatsucho.
I'm using noise-canceling earphones,
and listening to my favorite chill-out tracks.

For me, spaces like this are "free spaces" where I can "liberate myself."
For some reason, I don't get this feeling when I'm at home...

How about you guys? ?

Today, we'll be talking about great people.

Mozart, Descartes, and Goethe.
These three men all share something in common.
Yes, they all lived lives that placed great importance on "movement and travel."

Mozart lived for 36 years, but it's said that he spent a third of that short life traveling.

His father was convinced that "travel broadens your horizons," and he apparently took him on concert tours from an early age.
This is what we would call a tour today.

Descartes traveled throughout the Netherlands and Germany, eventually dying in Sweden.
He likely also served in the military—what an active man!

And lastly, there's Goethe.
He was also a scientist, traveling around the world to collect minerals and plants.
He famously said, "Travel is the purpose of life."

These great men likely stepped outside their ordinary lives to find new inspiration,
which they used as inspiration for their creativity.

Hearing stories like these, it seems that "movement and travel" have been meaningful activities for people since ancient times.

But I can also hear the following voices: "But wait, isn't that only for long-distance travel?"

As I mentioned at the beginning, I believe that even small, everyday trips have some kind of benefit or significance for us humans.

Next time, I'd like to look at such "significance" from a slightly more academic perspective.
(Don't worry, it won't be too difficult, so feel free to join in!)

Have a wonderful travel experience today!
