It was a beautiful day today.
The Yokohama area where I live was packed with people enjoying the sunny weather on their day off.
Have you all gone out, or rather, "traveled"?
So, what are the benefits of traveling?
I'd like to talk about that today.
Right away, let me introduce you to the following research results.
Associate Professor Aaron Heller of the University of Miami published the following:
"The data suggests that people feel happier on days when they engage in a high level of exploration, such as visiting new places."
Wow! These results are truly impressive! The study tracked the travel routes of 132 people over a three-month period. They also completed a happiness questionnaire, and some of the subjects' brains were analyzed using MRI. The results showed that "people who travel longer distances tend to feel happier in their daily lives. Furthermore, even if the distance is the same, travel that involves variety and novelty, rather than a set route, leads to greater happiness." The study also stated that "it's not how far you go, but how many diverse new places you go that's important." Indeed, even something like, "Take a different route home than usual and discover something new," can lead to small moments of happiness. The study also showed that people who felt happier the previous day tended to increase the variety and novelty of their travel the next day. In other words, "if travel makes you feel happier, you travel even more, which leads to even more happiness, creating a positive spiral." So what do you think, everyone? Travel seems like such a wonderful thing. Of course, you don't have to force yourself, but why not incorporate a little bit of different travel into your daily life?
And if this becomes a habit, you'll surely find yourself "moving" to a place of wonderful happiness.
Have a wonderful moving experience today!
